7:00 We checked into the hospital.
7:45 Karen is 3-4 cm and 75% effaced, station 2; Doctor recommends a slight dose of pitocin to get the baby to drop.
10:10 Karen is 5 cm, 80% effaced, -1 station. Doctor stops pitocin and breaks water.
11:50 pitocin drip is started again
12:35 8 cm, 100% effaced, -1 station
1:15 PM Karen's in A LOT of PAIN, and the nurse turns off the pitcocin and leaves to get the Doctor. Karen turns to me and tells me she might need an epidural. IT'S TOO LATE AGAIN, same as with Jillian, I know my wife, that was her plan all along. I can tell it hurts more this time.
1:30 Doctor examines Karen and sets up his delivery 'stuff'...and not a moment too soon, because...eleven minutes, and two EXTREME pushes later...
1:41 PM Eric Steven Moore is BORN. 7 lbs., 5 oz., 19 1/4 inches

Karen's Pregnant Again!

Here we go again! Karen is eleven weeks pregnant! The sonogram operator told us she's pretty sure it's a boy! She pointed out on the screen why she thought so... and it was pretty clear to us that she's probably right. I was amazed by the growth from a baby bean at 7 weeks, to a completely recognizable baby only four weeks later at 11 weeks! Check out the sonogram pictures in the photo gallery.

The things we learn from for our children.

The following are just a few of the things that we have learned from Karen and Gayle:
· A child with high fever in the middle of the night is a terrifying thing.
· At times little sisters need to comfort their big sisters.
· one should not throw rocks back to the kid next door.
· The kid next door bleeds.
· Kids will keep playing while the neighbor’s house gets broken into.
· Girls like to hang from the swing set too.
· Girls can get broken bones.
· Dads like to make and fly kites more than their kids.
· If you drop items into the toilet that do not belong in there, Dad gets to play plumber.
· You cannot heat water in a plastic cup on the burner of a stove.
· OOHs & AAHs from the the back seat on a road trip will be the Kids making fun of Dad.
· Dads get way more excited about scenery than the Kids.
· If you get mad at Mom & Dad and kick the wall, Dad will learn to repair drywall.
· Little girls grow up to soon.
· Little girls grow up and become great moms.
· Grandchildren are neat, maybe as neat as their moms.

Jillian Avery Moore is born!

Jillian was born Monday March 29, 2004, 6lbs. 10 oz., 19 in.. Karen knew it was time at 12:30 AM Monday morning. She called the doctor and he told us to go to the hospital. We arrived at the hospital at 2:15 AM and they wanted to observe her overnight. The nurses thought we would be sent home...but when the doctor checked at 7AM, she was 100% effaced and 8 cm.! Just like that we went from thinking we were going to be sent home to being told the baby would arrive within a couple of hours! Our very experienced and respected doctor told Karen in all his deliveries he has only seen this happen four or five times. Karen was the talk of the maternity ward! They were all amazed at how well Karen had handled labor. Karen had hoped to have the baby naturally and since she was already 8 cm it was really too late for any drugs anyway and so Karen had Jillian completely natural! I'm so proud of Karen and we are now the proud parents of a perfect little girl! I've set up a web site devoted to our little baby JAMl...Jillian Avery Moore. Please click www.jillianavery.com to see photos, sign our guestbook, and view Jillian's jounal to keep up with her progress.

Counting down the DAYS!

Karen is now 37 weeks pregnant. It's gone by so fast, and we're both very excited and anxious waiting for the big day. Karen picked up a daddy pager from the hospital but of course they forgot to activate it. Until they turn it on, I'm keeping my cell phone charged and ready! Karen has one more sonogram appointment on March 18th to determine position and size of the baby. At Karen's last appointment the doctor told her she was 70-80% effaced and 1-2 cm dilated. Will she make it to the 31st? Stay tuned...

We've had a short list for quite a while and yesterday we picked the name. Don't bother asking, we're not telling. You'll find out in about 12 weeks or so.

Third Trimester has begun

It's hard to believe Karen's already started her third trimester! On one hand, the pregnancy is going way too fast, on the other, I can hardly wait to see our little girl. Karen saw her Doctor this week and she and the baby are doing fine. Karen's parents were down to bring in the new year with us and I can't thank them enough for painting the baby's room a beautiful shade of lavender. With 12 weeks to go I find myself thinking of all that still needs to be done before our baby girl arrives.

Three more sonogram pictures added to the photo gallery. These from 21Weeks and 5days of the pregnancy. We now have 30 minutes of sonogram video of our baby girl! Check out the picture "HI 21W5D". HI MOM and DAD - it's my favorite from this visit. It's a pretty clear shot of her little hand!

Karen's half way there!

Karen is 20 weeks along so she's half way there! Her Dr. appointment this week went very well and our baby girl is doing great. It's really amazing how fast these weeks have gone by. The latest sonogram picture is in the gallery. The Dr. kept the best pictures and we only got the one this time. It's not as clear as the 15 week pictures. I think she has her hand up by her face which blocks a clear view of the head, however you can clearly see her legs. Karen has one more level two sonogram scheduled for later this month. We are both looking forward to seeing our baby girl at least one more time before she is born.

I'm happy to announce that Karen is pregnant! We decided to wait until after her level 2 sonogram to publicly make the announcement. We are happier than we've ever been and wanted to share the news with family and friends. I'll post updates here to share news of how Karen and baby are doing.
