Karen and Jason's wedding ceremony took place on Thursday, September 9, 1999 atop the Cathedral Rock Trail on Nevada's Mt. Charleston. The weather was sunny and slightly warmer than usual, with a strong breeze at the ceremony site. The groom, his family, Tim Morgan (officiant and family friend) and Suzanne Morgan hiked up the trail first, followed by the bride and her family. Happily, everyone successfully made it to the top of Cathedral Rock, including the groom's one-year-old niece, Kendal, who sat snug in her father's backpack during the hike.
And the bride wore ...
Attendees of this mountaintop ceremony wore khaki slacks and denim shirts, with the exception of the bride and groom. The bride wore a formal white wedding dress and hiking boots, changing into white satin shoes for the ceremony; the groom wore khaki slacks and a black shirt. Four traditional cameras and one digital camera were used throughout the wedding hike and ceremony to document the unique procession!
Reception
The wedding reception was held at the Mt. Charleston Lodge immediately following the 1.4 mile return hike from Cathedral Rock. In addition to a wonderful meal, each guest received their very own piece of Cathedral rock, as seen on this site's entry page. The reception concluded in a manner as unique as the wedding itself--with an impromptu tour of Karen and Jason's honeymoon cabin located near the Lodge. Kudos to the newlyweds for graciously allowing more than fifteen people to wander through their cabin!
